WHAT DO YOUNG PEOPLE THINK ABOUT DEMOCRACY?
As part of the YOU‑POD project — funded by the European Union under the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme — we asked students involved in our activities to share their views on key issues such as democracy, access to information, and civic participation.
The survey was distributed at the end of our workshops and also shared more broadly with their schoolmates in Italy, France, and Poland. Through their answers, students expressed how they understand democracy, how they inform themselves, and what would motivate them to take a more active role in public life.

Their voices are clear and powerful.
From defining what participation means to them, to identifying their most-used news sources, their responses offer a valuable snapshot of how young people relate to civic life today.
One message stands out: Schools have a crucial role to play in helping students become active, informed citizens. And while there are no simple solutions, this is exactly where YOU‑POD wants to make a difference.
By promoting reflection, dialogue, and youth-led media like podcasts, we’re creating spaces where young people can engage with democratic values in meaningful, creative ways.
Co-financed by the European Union, the project is carried out in collaboration with the Lycée des Métiers du Bois in Mouchard and the Europejska Fundacja Rozwoju Człowieka, a non-profit organization based in Łódź.
